Nyx
Name: Nyx
Clan: None
Age: 27 moons
Gender: She-cat
Rank: Loner
Appearance:Pelt:
For a loner, Nyx has a remarkably soft and smooth coat. Most cats that fend for themselves don't have the time the groom themselves as meticulously as Nyx does. Her well-kept coat thickly covers her entire body in short, black hairs. If hit by a strong ray of sunlight, Nyx's pelt shines a deep chocolate brown, always to turn back to her namesake black color. The fur on Nyx's tail is slightly longer that the rest, allowing her to fluff it up in alarm when she is surprised. The only color that breaks through the deep black of her coat are the sharp white flashes of her claws and teeth.Build:
The life of a barn-cat suits Nyx very well, and it shows in her build. If this she-cat didn't exercise her muscles by climbing trees and racing around the farmland, she would be downright plump. But given that Nyx regularly exercises, her lean muscles shine underneath her slick coat. These muscles roll gracefully as she runs and leaps, and bunch thickly when she prepares to pounce. Some kittypets or inexperienced loners mistake her for a clan cat, but she doesn't have quite enough muscle to fit into ThunderClan, ShadowClan, or RiverClan, and she is too heavy to exist withing WindClan.Other:
Nyx has soft green eyes, the color of aged oak leaves. They are not penetrating eyes, but they are curious. Soft flicks of yellow dance within her irises, gently folding into the dominant pale green color. Nyx's nose, much like her fur, is a dark, almost black gray color. Flecks of black decorate her nose countered by very slight cream dots that are almost impossible to sight on her muzzle. The only imperfect mark on Nyx's body is a thin scar that runs along her back haunches. This scar trails from her right hip to the back of her leg, it then fades gradually into her fur.
Personality:Anxious
Although most cats would think this trait is ludicrous for a barn-cat, Nyx is often suffers from anxiety. Part of this comes from her lonely life with rare contact with other cats. She always expects the worst from the world, and tries to prepare herself for it. This is one of the reasons why she is constantly active. If some horror were to come upon her and she would have to leave her barn, Nyx wants to be prepared. It can be argued, for this reason, that a little anxiety is good for a cat. But to the extent that Nyx has it, her anxiety might be doing her more harm than good. But if she were to have a companion in her lonely barn, she might be better off.Quiet
Nyx is a quiet soul, and she has decided that is why the loner life fits her best. It takes her a considerable amount of time to become comfortable around another cat, and for a loner that chance hardy arises. For the most part, Nyx enjoys her quiet life, but as previously stated, she can become awfully lonely. Her quietness makes her come across as a shy cat, which she is. It was probably her solitary upbringing that embedded this quality in her.Loyal
If Nyx were in a clan, this would be her shining attribute. But she has yet to prove her loyalty to anycat except for her family. If the chance were to arise, Nyx would most certainly choose her companion's safety over her own-- which is a dangerous characteristic for a loner to have.
History: Much isn't to be known about Nyx's history. She was raised by her rough mother and loner father, their clannlessness bringing them together. Unlike most out-of-clan cats, Nyx's mother and father were proper mates, each taking care of their young with the other. Nyx was born into a litter of two, she and her brother. Their family took refuge in a hollow crafted by tree roots, this is where the litter was born and lived most of their lives as kits. Her brother was called Blaze after the bright orange fur he inherited from his father, and Nyx was named after her mother's deceased sister, with whom she shared almost every physical trait.
Soon after Nyx and her brother were able to walk unaided, their little family was forced out of their safe home by a fox. The evil orange beast bit Nyx's father's leg, leading to an infection that eventually killed the kindly cat. The other blow that the fox landed on the family was a long gash that Nyx sustained to her leg. The she-kit walked with an uneven gait for moons, which eventually faded.
Nyx's current living situations call for her family to be either dead or gone, which is exactly what happened. After Nyx's father died, her mother grew wrought with grief. She spent days hiding away from her kits, who she left to teach themselves how to hunt. Her mate had soothed her rough ways and without him, she became violent and lost her maternal tenancies. When the kits were twelve moons old, they found their mother dead by a river. Whether she died of grief or a sickness overtook her, they did not know. But they did not grieve as they knew that the mother they had known had died long before her body, she had died with her mate.
After a hastily dug grave, Nyx and Blaze sought a new home that wasn't laden with memories of their lost mother and sickly father. On the way Blaze fell into a river, which bore him away, never to be seen again. Nyx has a sneaking suspicion that he is still alive, as she never found his sodden body even after a full moon of searching.
Currently, Nyx resides in the barn next to WindClan territory. From time to time she glances patrols making their way around the territory from WindClan and RiverClan, but she knows not to approach them.
Other: I will post her needs in the lost board.
